This is a PC-based system that receives news stream from BERNAMA. It replaced the mechanical printers that were commonly used at news agencies at the time.

BERNAMA broadcasts its News Service through Modem as a serial stream. Newspaper Agencies such as Sin Chew Jit Poh and China Press receives the news stream on a PC.

The news is automatically grouped and stored in Categories. You select the Category and then a screen shows up as lines of news stories. You select the line you want, and the news appears. You can view it, edit it, and combine with related news stories, and then print it as your own story!
